Items that are not allowed

The program prohibits the storing of valuable or bulky client property such as, but no necessarily limited to, jewelry, expensive clothing, wallets, purses, footlockers, suit cases, electronic equipment, excessive clothing, etc. Other items not allowed include:

  • Electric curlers
  • Blow dryers
  • Books/magazines (except as noted below)
  • Baby oil
  • Sunglasses
  • Hairspray/cologne
  • Matches/lighters
  • Food or drink of any type
  • Jewelry
  • Inappropriate pictures
  • Rolled tobacco
  • Q-tips
  • Cigars or smokeless tobacco

Items that are allowed

    • 2 pair of shoes (with full backs and a hard sole)
    • 1 pair slippers
    • 1 pair shower shoes
    • 1 bathrobe
    • 2 pair pajamas
    • 7 shirts (sweat shirts, sport shirts, blouses)
    • 7 t-shirts or undershirts (no bar or band advertisements, swear words, musical performers or inappropriate pictures)
    • 7 pairs pants
    • 12 pairs socks
    • 12 underwear
    • 7 bras
    • 2 thermals
    • 1 wave cap
    • 2 sweaters
    • 1 jacket/coat
    • 2 belts
    • 1 pair gloves and a hat
    • 7 shorts (Bermuda length)
    • 2 jogging suits (sweat/nylon)
    • Cigarettes (only factory-made – one carton per week allowed)
    • Toothbrush, toothpaste and holder
    • Disposable razors and shaving cream
    • After-shave – NON-ALCOHOL ONLY
    • Deodorant – STICK OR ROLL ON ONLY
    • Mouse and gell – NON-ALCOHOL ONLY
    • Electric Shaver
    • Shampoo and cream rinse (in factory-sealed, transparent container)
    • Brush and comb
    • Feminine hygiene products
    • Curlers – FOAM ONLY
    • Lotion/Vaseline
    • Cosmetic bag
    • Nail clippers/finger nail file
    • AA/NA books
    • 1 Holy Book
    • Pens, pencils and writing paper
    • Envelopes and stamps
    • Prescription glasses
    • Plastic hangers
    • Fabric softener (sheets only)
    • Address book and legal papers

Laundry powder is furnished. All toilet articles and hygiene products must be received in a factory-sealed container or the container/contents must be transparent for purposes of inspection by the staff. Clients are not allowed to wear any jewelry while at CPI, with the exception of a plain, no stone band. Prior to admission all jewelry and items of value will be sent home with client’s family or significant others if possible. On admission all jewelry will be taken from client by the Admissions staff. If a client is unable to remove Jewelry upon admission, arrangements will be made for appropriate removal of jewelry (at client’s own cost).
